Mansfield Park, the opera, tomorrow
Jonathan Dove’s opera based on Mansfield Park is being performed by students at the Royal Academy of Music in London on Thursday and Friday this week.
The opera, commissioned by Heritage Opera, attracted great interest when it was first seen on tour last year, particularly this piece in The Independent by Jessica Duchen.
Dove, who hails from a family of South London architects, is responsible for a number of landmark operas in recent years, including Flight, which was set in an aiport departure lounge and premiered at Glyndebourne Opera in 1998.
